Kafe on Hemmings – Dandenong – a local cafe for coffee and brunch
Kafe on Hemmings is located on the street sharing its name, Hemmings Street in Dandenong. The café is located along a strip of shopfronts that also has the Dandenong West Fish and Chips and Crusty Pizza & Burgers. This café opened post-COVID and is a welcome addition to an area starving for more interesting joints. It feels like a laid back café with lots of interesting books and toys to keep children occupied.

Visiting on Fathers Day, I was impressed to see that they provided a unique Fathers Day menu. What struck me was the Fathers Day Stacker for $28.50 which offered eggs, bacon, lamb sausage, chorizo, tomato, hash brown, halloumi and sourdough bread. It was quite a hefty plate of interesting breakfast items on a plate.
When it was delivered, I was all to happy to dig into it, excited to try the many options which were cooked pretty well. There was a good serving of everything that it felt generous. Plus they added a second sourdough to the mix.
Along with the Fathers Day Stacker I had a tall mug of latte which I couldn’t recommend due to the drink’s bitterness, but at least it was a decent serving of coffee.

My wife ordered the Shakshuka for $20 and this dish came with beans and eggs with sourdough. The dish went well with the sourdough, but I wished they had toasted the sourdough a bit more.

My child had a Chocolate Pancake. It was a sweet, very unhealthy looking dish but the occassion allowed for it.
Overall, it was a nice for a family brunch and it seems to draw a regular crowd looking for coffee or lunch on the go.
