BattleKart is an international franchise with many locations globally. Luckily for Australians, there is a location in Melbourne, in the inner city suburb of Footscray. BattleKart is an interactive, highly digitised indoor cart racing experience with up-to-date technologies for quick, seemly, and exciting races and games.
Highlights | BattleKarts is an opportunity to experience Mario Karts with friends and family. It’s a lot of fun, with many different types of games available, but it is quite expensive! |
Cost | $110 for two rounds of games (each session 15 minutes). Additional sessions are at a cheaper rate. |
Location | 50 McArthur Street, West Footscray VIC 3111 |

BattleKart is located about 13 minutes walk from Tottenham Station at a warehouse. The outside of the building looks pretty much like a standard industrial warehouse, but that all changes as soon as you walk into the venue and see the bright lights and projections throughout the entire warehouse.
BattleKarts is something you need to book well in advance. You need the attendees emails and you need to pay in advance. When booking, you need to select your 15 minute session and if you are the first person to book in a given time, you get to select the games that are played.
The games are all played within a 15 minute session. These games include Battle Racing, which is your standard Mario Kart experience, Battle Snake, which is your typical snake game, and Battle Virus, where you work together to beat a floating virus. Plus there are many more games.
When you arrive, you need to arrive about 15 minutes early and listen to a short instruction session. The venue provides lockers for free to put your belongings away.
The venue is pretty well organised and everything seems to run on a tight ship, albeit they don’t quite follow the exact times for each session. For example, the 3 PM session might start at 3:10 PM.
Since all players are registered, once the session begins, all you need to do is find the kart with your email and once you get in, you just need to adjust your seat and follow the prompts provided by the screen provided in the kart.
Our session played two sessions including Battle Racing, Battle Virus, Battle Snake, and Battle Colour. All were a lot of run, especially the Battle Snack and Battle Virus. Battle Colour was not quite what I was expecting. The most incredible thing is just how smart the karts are, that you won’t need to worry about crashing into other karts.
BattleKart offers a great opportunity for parties, bucks, anniversaries or just catch-ups with friends. Although each session is quite expensive, each session is well run and very easy to follow, understand.
