Nestled within the heart of Springvale Central, just a leisurely stroll from the bustling Springvale Station, Co Thu Quan stands as a culinary haven offering a taste of authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Boasting another branch in Footscray, this restaurant has made a name for itself with its diverse menu and a reputation for swift, polite service.
The extensive menu at Co Thu Quan presents a delectable array of options, from grilled pork on charcoal and noodle to thin rice vermicelli, grilled pork, and fatty pork patty. The dishes are artfully presented with assorted herbs and crisp lettuce, ensuring a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Other popular choices include tofu, spring rolls, and the ever-classic chicken and rice, providing a delightful symphony of Vietnamese flavours.

Known for its efficiency, Co Thu Quan prides itself on delivering fast and polite service to its patrons. However, it’s wise to plan your visit outside the peak hours of 7:00 to 8:30 pm, as the restaurant tends to be bustling with eager diners during this time.
Entering Co Thu Quan Springvale, you’ll be greeted by a casual and cozy atmosphere. The simple décor and comfortable seating create an inviting space, making it the perfect setting for a relaxed dining experience. During my visits, I’ve always found it easy to secure a seat and peruse the menu while helping myself to a comforting cup of Jasmine tea—a small touch that adds to the overall welcoming ambiance.
One dish that has become a personal favorite is the Hue Style Clay Pot Rice, priced at $16. This unique creation features clay pot rice adorned with pork mince and accompanied by an enticing array of sides, including water baby crabs, crispy shrimps, pork belly, pickled green mustard, and garden eggs. The combination of flavours and textures in this dish is a testament to the kitchen’s commitment to culinary excellence. It’s a symphony of tastes that’s both satisfying and memorable.
Exploring further into the menu, the Fried Barramundi Noodle Soup ($17) and Water Spinach Crab Noodles ($15) caught my attention. The Fried Barramundi Noodle Soup, with its sweet and sour profile, proved to be a uniquely delicious experience. However, it’s worth noting that while the dishes shine in terms of flavour, the service can be somewhat hit-or-miss, with staff not always readily available at the table (but generally polite).
