Discovery Fusion BBQ Buffet in Burwood East seems to be a popular destination for the night crowd. It’s located in the same area as the 24 hour Coles and Kmart along Burwood Highway. What makes this buffet unique is the variety of skewers and meats available to cook over scorching hot charcoal.

Cost | $58 per adult |
Location | F3/172 Burwood Highway, Burwood East VIC 3151 |

The way to get a seat is to make a reservation. Booking your time and number of people is important, because session times only last for two hours and they can be quite strict with the session time especially if there are guests waiting to be seated. Even on a Friday night, there are always people coming at all times of the night (including past 10 pm).
On Friday and Saturday nights, the whole venue is packed with people. Each table has its own charcoal station where you can cook your meats or skewers over. Plus there are a bunch of condiments and sauces to add to the meats, including spicy and roasted sesame sauce.
The cost per person is $58 per adult. Children under 3 years ago are free and children under 1.3m are $19.80. There is also a 25% off after 10 pm on Monday to Friday.
In terms of food, you get to select your own food from their buffet selection. There are a bunch of skewers including beef, lamb, chicken and fish skewers plus a selection of vegetable skewers. To be honest, I couldn’t tell much of a difference between the similar named beef skewers and lamb skewers. (But the fattier ones cooked and tasted better than the meats with little fat.)
There are some things that have to be cooked on a plate, which takes up a portion of the charcoal area. I thoughts the marinated beef chunks and lamb pieces were excellent. I was a tad disappointed in the non-marinated meats.
It’s an all you can eat experience with skewers
There are even salads and cooked foods, such as fried chicken, fried noodles and steamed vegetables, to choose from.
Once you finish your meal, you can grab some cakes (which are completely random), cut up oranges or their syrup dessert.
What’s nice about the venue is that there is a live DJ and disco lights.
I thought the venue was nicely gas heated at points, but they turn them on or off depending on guests preferences.
Overall, I had heaps of beef and lamb skewers and was pretty satisfied with most of the offerings.
