Element TD 2 – Steam – faithful to its Warcraft 3 origin with new maps, co-op and mazing options

This tower defense game is a delightful throwback to the Warcraft 3 era, faithfully recreating the base mode while introducing a wealth of new maps, co-op challenges, and, for those who opt for the expansion, intricate mazing options (similar to the experience offered in Gem TD). This game was one of the best custom games to come during the Warcraft 3 era alongside the likes of Defense against the Ancients (DotA).

Whether you’re teaming up with random players online or going solo, the game offers a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The solo campaign is particularly engaging, offering a range of challenging handicaps to keep you on your toes. The most entertainment comes from playing online against other people around the world and testing your mettle and skills against them.

The core objective is to strategically build towers to repel increasingly formidable waves of enemies. Each round introduces creatures with distinct abilities and vulnerabilities, demanding careful tower placement to exploit these weaknesses. The goal, when playing with other online players, is to eliminate your wave as quickly as possible to commence the countdown to the next wave for all players – eventually players that don’t keep up or are overwhelmed will be eliminated.

Elements play a pivotal role in your success. Choosing from light, dark, fire, water, nature, and earth is crucial for overcoming the relentless horde. The ability to combine elements opens up a wide array of tower-building possibilities.

Every tower boasts its own set of attributes – damage output, range, attack speed, and area of effect damage (splash damage). Single and dual element towers should not be underestimated, as they can be exceptionally potent when fully upgraded. You can opt for the triple or quad element towers, which pack a punch, and offers some very unique abilities.

One standout combination is the Well Tower, boosting tower attack speed by up to 90%. Paired with the Corrosion Tower for a hefty 40% damage increase and the Windstorm Tower for a 32% slowing effect on enemies, it forms a formidable setup.

As you progress to the final wave, be prepared for a nail-biting challenge. Consecutive bonus waves featuring formidable Doom Lords will test your skills to the limit. Pushing through these bonus waves is a mark of true prowess and provides ample bragging rights. At the end of the session, you will receive a score and some experience points to acquire customisable icons and equippable ornaments to show off how much you enjoy the game.

Element TD 2 is a must-try for tower defense enthusiasts. Whether you prefer to tackle it solo or team up with others online, the blend of nostalgia and fresh content is truly commendable. So gather your allies or go it alone – it’s time to embark on an epic tower-building adventure reminiscent of the Warcraft 3 glory days!
