Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade – PlayStation 5 – visually enhanced adventure for the current gen console and also introduces Yuffie as a playable character

On 26 February 2021, Square Enix revealed at the PlayStation State of Play digital livestream the critically acclaimed and award-winning Final Fantasy VII Remake will be coming to the PlayStation 5 on 10 June 2021. The enhanced port will boast enhanced visuals, fast loading times, a customizable photo mode, and also include Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will take advantage of the latest generation hardware and includes a wealth of graphical, gameplay and system enhancements for the PlayStation 5. By purchasing this additional episode, you play as Yuffie Kisaragi. For long time fans of Final Fantasy, Yuffie is one of the optional playable characters from the original Final Fantasy VII (so she is missing in all the major cutscenes), but since then has become a mainstay in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII universe. She makes appearances in titles such as ADVENT CHILDREN, DIRGE OF CERBERUS and CRISIS CORE. But this will be Yuffie’s first appearance in the world of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

I am already excited.

Square Enix has explained that the episode involving Yuffie will be an original adventure where players will be able to play as the shuriken wielding ninja. The gameplay and the setting in the trailer suggest that the adventure will have some meat to the bone, where Yuffie is a mission involving Avalanche and Deepground (thanks to the cameo at the end of the trailer). This adventure will also introduce a character named Sonon who will fight alongside Yuffie. Little is known about Sonon. It looks like the adventure will take place in different parts of Midgar (so it will be great to see what else Midgar has to offer) and this story will parallel Cloud’s journey in the game.

Another exciting thing to look out for is the new background music, which you can listen to in the trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. No word on who the composer for these new tracks is.

There is some great news for owners of Final Fantasy VII Remake on the PlayStation 4. Owners on the PlayStation 4 will get a free upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version and can purchase the new episode with Yuffie as a standalone download.
