Kalimera Souvlaki Art – Oakleigh – greek platters and wraps, plus chips and pita bread

Kalimera Souvlaki Art is located on Chester Street in Oakleigh. This restaurant offers greek souvlaki, dips and salads in a cosy space with exposed bricks and colourful recycled wood.

We visited on a Friday night and noticed how busy this place was, it was brimming with lots of locals and visitors looking for a simple feed with friends and family.

The menu is simple, it’s just either souvlaki or platters with either chips or pita bread and dips.

You help yourself with water and have to order and pay at the counter.

We opted for their Chicken Gyros Platter for $26, which came with chicken, pita bread, dip, and tomato (sliced). The chicken was fine, the pita bread was warm and nicely cut up, the dip was great and there was just the right amount on the plate, but the chips while very crunchy with a soft interior were notably not flavoured – but needed to be dipped in the dipping sauce to enhance its taste.

We felt like there were better souvlaki offered at other places at more affordable prices.
