The patriotism is strong at King Henry’s Restaurant. As you enter the restaurant along the windy Mount Dandenong roads, you are greeted with King Henry VIII’s face and heaps of British flags. Parking is in the rear of the restaurant, but you can also park outside the restaurant on the roadside.

I booked my table ahead of time on the restaurant’s website, because there are occasions when the restaurant refuses to accept anyone without a reservation due to busy-ness. This is the especially case during school holiday periods.
There is the option of dining outside and enjoying the breeze or dining inside the establishment. The restaurant is pretty much a refitted house with lots and lots of ornaments and trinkets to represent either the former British monarch, King Henry VIII, or Britain.
The restaurant tends to attract guests around lunch time, 1 pm.
The menu is very British, and on the day, I noticed many people ordering the Vege Burger with Chips for $25. While very British, the menu is limited, but has some distinctly British dishes like bangers and mash, fish and chips, etc minus beef wellington and haggis. The last time I had British cuisine was when I visited Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant Bread Street in Singapore. You can read more about Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street here.
Dining at King Henry’s Restaurant
We started with the Panko Brie with Cranberry Jam for $18. The panko crumbed brie with the cranberry jam worked well and was pleasant due its unique flavour.
I enjoyed their Watermelon Mint Smoothie, which had watermelon juice, coconut sorbet and mint, for $11. This was an incredible concoction and great for hot days.
For our mains, we ordered the Chicken Chasseur with spinach, gravy and mash for $39 and Traditional Fish and Chips with salad and tartare for $32. The chicken breast was cooked really well. The gravy and mash had great flavours. The fish and chips was huge. The barramundi was nicely battered and went well with the tartare sauce.
Overall, I was really satisfied by the whole dining experience. The service was really good and the food was better than I expected and bigger as well.
