King William Takeaway is just a window front along Flinders Lane. It’s a popular destination for a decent, tasty lunch when in Melbourne’s CBD. It’s famed sandwiches, including its Brigadier is worth trying.

King William Takeaway has a long table along the footpath, but it can get pretty messy and sticky by the end of lunchtime.
There are easy ways to get to King William Takeaway because no trams travel down Flinders Lane, but you can make it easier by taking one of the free trams along either Flinders Street or Collins Street.
Get there early before the best sandwiches are gone
Highly recommend visiting the store earlier to have access to the full menu. When I visited, both the Brigadier and the Mamma Mia were gone, so I opted for the Havana Blast.
Havana Blast for $17 comes with slow-roasted pork, ham and melted Swiss cheese, house-made pickles, and chipotle mayo. It was simple, delicious and well toasted.
