Krabby’s Crab Boil is located in the walkway towards the Village Cinemas at Knox Shopping Centre in the Knox Ozone area. The walkway is home to several restaurants, most of whom have changed over the many years with few long standing restaurants.
Krabby’s is an import from Docklands, which I’ve been meaning to try for some time. It has an impressive looking restaurant with the seafaring décor of rope, anchors, and life rafts. And the interiors are pretty and well adorned, and not tacky.
Highlights | Great service, interesting atmosphere, and an enjoyable experience. We visited for lunch and had their delicious lunch specials of grilled prawn and fried fish with chips and drink for $19.90. |
Cost | ~$20-25 for their Lunch Specials ($19.90 for prawns, $24.90 for Barramundi) |

Krabby’s Crab Boil manages to stand out with its distinctive touch screen menu. Before venturing into the restaurant, you can scroll through the menu, check the specials, and get a good sense of what the place has to offer. It’s a clever way of giving people a preview and attracting them in once they realise the prices are somewhat okay.
We visited during the lunch hour on a Friday, enticed by their lunch special of Wild Prawns, Chips and drink for $19.90. The deal came with Wild Prawns with a dipping sauce (I went with Salt and Pepper Sauce, but they also have laksa and tom yum flavours), 150 grams of Fried Fish, Chips and a Can of Soft Drink. There’s also a Barramundi Special for $24.90 with similar sides. Plus there was their usual menu consisting of Crab or Lobster Rolls, and a bunch of other seafood combos.
We also ordered a Kids Meal for $14.90 which also came with its own choices of Fried Fish or Fried Chicken Wing, plus fries and juice box.
On entry, we found the service to be pretty good. We were ushered to our choice of table and assisted. They promptly provided water, bibs and plastic gloves when we settled down into our seats. Our table happened to be a table with the window view to the main Knoz Ozone walkway.
The Lunch Special of Wild Prawns was really good. The prawns themselves were nicely marinated and came with both Lemon and Pepper Sauce and Tomato Sauce. The prawns were giant with lots of juicey, succulent meat. The Lemon and Pepper Sauce was really good that I needed to double dip a few times. The fries were cooked really well with an excellent crispy exterior and soft fluffy interior. It was great to have a drink as part of the deal as well as well as a small salad and corn.
Having visited Boiling Crab in Glen Waverley, I think I prefer this over Boiling Crab because of its prices and serving size. Although the atmosphere for both restaurants are very similar.
I do want to experience the restaurant’s real deal where a seafood bucket is ordered and then poured onto the table in a mess and you have to eat with your own hands. I saw a few people do it during our lunch session and it seemed like they were really enjoying the experience.
Overall, it was an enjoyable lunch in a nice atmosphere with good food at a decent price. I’d want to come back again.
