If you visit Yokohama, make sure to head to the Minato Mirai area. Minato Mirai is a futuristic waterfront with a high-rise observation deck and boutique stores. At the Yokohama Landmark Tower and Plaza you can also find the Pokemon Center, Glibli Store and Jump Store. The whole area is full of attractions, including the Cosmo Clock 21 (which is a huge ferris wheel with the clock). If you are in the area, head to the Cosmo Clock 21 and across the road from it is Yokohama World Porters.
Yokohama World Porters is a unique shopping center. On the ground floor are heaps of unique, foreign to Japan eateries. On the higher floors you will find a lot of typically American outlets for fashion and interior design.
One place you need to visit is Leonard’s, which does malasada, which are delicious Portuguese donuts without the hole in the center. They come out super hot, crispy and tasty. You can order a plain one with cinnamon or one with filling. It’s a sugar coated, golden deep fried ball of deliciousness.
There are several donuts to choose from. We went with a malasada with custard filling. It was so good! It was only about 240 yen.
Leonard’s is located in the Hawaiian Town area on the ground floor of Yokohama World Porters. I found the whole center a lot of fun for shopping, because there were so many unique clothing outlets that I wouldn’t be able to find elsewhere in Japan or back home in my native Australia.
Leonard’s at Yokohama World Porters is located here: Japan, 〒231-0001 Kanagawa, Yokohama, Naka Ward, Shinko, 2 Chome−2−1 横浜ワールドポーターズ
