Getting to Melbourne Museum is straight forward taking the tram, but it’s outside Melbourne free tram zone. The museum is home to the museum itself, the Royal Exhibition Building, Imax, and an incredible garden, the Carlton Gardens, with fountain.
Highlights | Explore the museum from 9 am to 5 pm each day with changing exhibits and IMAX at the complex |
Cost | $15 for a general adults ticket and children under 16 are free with each adult ticket |
Location | 11 Nicholson Street, Carlton VIC 3053 |
Website | https://museumsvictoria.com.au/melbournemuseum/ |
The museum is sprawling with activities and exhibits, some of which cost extra to visit. The museum is aimed at family adventures where kids under 16 can visit for free with their parents. It’s a fun adventure sprawling across several kinds of exhibits, including dinosaur fossils, insects, plants, space and even Aboriginal Australian exhibits.
There is a large children’s gallery as well, which you have to pre-book in advance. The children’s gallery is literally just a large play area for children with lots of visuals and moving objects. It can get quite busy, popular.
Experience the whole museum in a day
Check the museum website to see what is new. There is bound to be something cool to see with the family and it’s ever changing.
The food at the museum is expensive and wasn’t extensive in what it offered.
The museum is good to combo with Imax, which is downstairs. There are usually shorter films and documentaries during the day and it transitions to blockbusters at night time.
