Moon Diem Hen – Springvale – Vietnamese cuisine neighbour to Hoa Tran

In the busy Springvale, Moon Diem Hen stands tall among a sea of Vietnamese eateries that dot the precinct. It’s a culinary battleground here, with an abundance of options for discerning Vietnamese cuisine enthusiasts.

What’s intriguing about Moon Diem Hen is its dual entrances—one on Springvale Road and the other adjacent to the renowned Hoa Tran. It’s got its work cut out, vying for attention against arguably the most popular eatery in Springvale, Hoa Tran.

This eatery’s history is steeped in nostalgia; it proudly occupies the very spot that once housed a McDonald’s back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Times have changed, and Moon Diem Hen has emerged as the latest successor.

One of its standout features is the specials menu available from Monday to Thursday. Here, affordability meets quality, with options like the Grilled Pork and Egg on Rice stealing the show at a mere $7. For those seeking a more indulgent experience, the Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs on Tomato Rice or the Crispy Fried Chicken Tomato Rice, both priced at $10, are sure to satisfy.

For Pho enthusiasts, the Special Beef Pho is a classic choice at $17.

On my recent visit, I opted for the Cambodian Noodle Soup, a special offered at the discounted price of $12, down from its usual $16. This rendition was a delightful surprise, presenting a medley of flavors and textures. The broth was robust, carrying the essence of Cambodia, and generously adorned with offal, pork slices, and prawns.

Moon Diem Hen certainly holds its own in the vibrant culinary landscape of Springvale. While it faces stiff competition, its unique offerings, including the specials menu and distinctive dishes like Pho, set it apart.
