Nestled in the vibrant locale of Springvale, Rumduol Restaurant occupies the same spot that was once home to the burger joint Cultural Commons, offering a delightful transformation into a haven for Cambodian cuisine enthusiasts. The restaurant not only boasts an extensive menu showcasing a variety of Cambodian dishes but also adds a unique touch with live music performances.
On the night of our visit, we were intrigued to try the noodle soup, a staple in Cambodian cuisine. However, to our disappointment, it was unavailable, suggesting a possible popularity that exceeded expectations. Despite this setback, the menu itself proved to be a treasure trove of interesting and traditional Cambodian delights, showcasing the richness of the culinary heritage.

Opting for a diverse selection, we ordered the Fried Noodles with Seafood priced at $19, Pork on Rice for $16, Fried Shrimp at $12, and their Coconut Coffee for $8. The menu’s breadth was impressive, offering a glimpse into the diverse flavours of Cambodian cuisine.
Among the dishes (and although it’s a side dish), the Fried Shrimp emerged as the standout star of the evening. Served with a traditional Cambodian sauce comprising a delightful mixture of pepper and salt, topped with a generous squeeze of lemon (that you do yourself), the dish offered a harmonious blend of flavors that left a lasting impression. The unique sauce elevated the dining experience, showcasing the culinary finesse that Rumduol Restaurant brings to its creations.
While the Fried Shrimp took center stage with its distinctive and memorable profile, the other dishes, including the Fried Noodles with Seafood and Pork on Rice, presented more typical and expected flavors. Although unremarkable in comparison, they provided a satisfying representation of familiar Cambodian fare.
Adding to the immersive experience, live Cambodian music serenaded us throughout the dinner, enhancing the atmosphere and contributing to the cultural ambiance. The live music became an integral part of the overall dining experience, infusing an authentic touch and showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to offering a complete Cambodian cultural encounter. I was surprised by the strength of the vocalist as they kept singing throughout our stay.
Rumduol Restaurant in Springvale stands out as a noteworthy destination for Cambodian cuisine enthusiasts, building on the legacy of its predecessor with a diverse menu and live music performances. While the unavailability of the noodle soup was a minor setback, the standout dish, Fried Shrimp, exemplified the restaurant’s culinary prowess. The overall dining experience, complemented by live Cambodian music, added a cultural dimension, making Rumduol Restaurant a compelling choice for those seeking an authentic taste of Cambodia in the heart of Springvale.
