Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World – Bangkok – discover the jungle’s deepest wonders with your family and friends

Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World is the largest aquarium in South East Asia. It boasts over 10,000 square meters of species on display, including sharks, sea turtles, and a host of sea creatures from the various oceans. The aquarium is easy to reach as it sits within a huge shopping center, Siam Paragon near its food court, and can be reached easily be public transport. Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World is a great place to visit with friends and family.

For adult, the ticket on the website is 981 baht and there are cheaper options if you are buying tickets for the whole family. My wife and I opted to buy our tickets from Klook, which usually have a discount on the usual ticket prices. Trust me when I say that it is always better to buy from trusted online ticketing vendors than ordering the tickets on the day. Though, if you buy a ticket, you are committing yourself to the event and don’t have much leeway to do something else. Weigh up the options. In my view, the aquariums in Japan are more worthwhile, but diving with sharks seems unique to this aquarium.

Look at all those Clown Fish and Dory swimming around

The whole aquarium is a sprawling maze of displays with hundreds of creatures, mostly sea creatures, swimming around. There are plenty of things to see and all kinds of exhibits for people. Some of the exhibits will generate more awe than others, for example, the display with all the orange clown fishes and blue dory was so beautiful to witness.

Like many aquariums, there are water tunnels where the sea creatures swim essentially above you and to your sides. It’s a great time to capture a moment with your better half. Though, you may find the photo is pretty dark.

The whole venue is super clean and organized. We found it really easy getting around the whole venue and managed to spend a good two hours walking at a steady pace through the whole aquarium. We were keen to capture as many photos as we could, but it is quite dark for photos. Unfortunately, many of my photos weren’t great. (But as you can see, when I managed to take some photos, each photo is made of several vibrant colors.)

There are plenty of optional things to do such as diving with the sharks, patting various sea creatures and seeing the penguins being fed. You just need to book on the day or make sure you check their timetable so that you don’t miss anything. (They play a game with the penguins during their feeding sessions. It is cool seeing the penguins come out on que and ‘at attention’.) At various junctions were children friendly interactive attractions, with English instructions, for the kids to enjoy.

The key things to look out for are the aquarium zones, coral reefs, sharks, sea turtles and gentoo penguins. Also, if you pay attention to many of the displays, you will see distinctly Thai inspired decorations like the Buddha head in the water or ruins from ancient Siamese civilization, etc.

I found the whole experience a lot of fun with my wife. It was an added bonus that the food center was literally outside the entrance to the aquarium, which meant we could get a meal straight after our walk. The food center included several popular restaurants and cafes like gram (pancakes) and McDonalds, and heaps of hawker-like vendors selling boat noodles, pad thai and other Thai food. I picked up a boat noodle and my wife picked up a seafood omelet with oysters and prawns.
