Vietnamese cuisine is easy to come by in Springvale. Thanks to all the competition and the sheer number of Vietnamese restaurants, we are lucky enough to see so many great options available. To distinguish one from the other, each restaurant has their own stake in a particular field. At Song Huong – Bun Bo Hue on Balmoral Avenue, they offer eye-catching, affordable dishes at AUD$8 each. You can choose from Pork Chop with Rice, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Beef Brisket with Rice and so much more.
There is another restaurant that does something similar and I suspect they are either sister restaurants or the old owner moved to Song Huong – Bun Bo Hue – but that’s a story for another day.
I remember when the dishes used to be $5, then $6, then $7 and now $8. It increases every two to three years. It’s still cheaper than other places, when other places keep increasing their prices as well.
Visiting Song Huong – Bun Bo Hue is great because you can order one of these dishes if you want something small or want to get something for your children. There are nine options and I’m sure there is something that catches your eye. There is also their full menu, which is packed full of noodle soup, rice and main dishes. I tend to oscillate between their $8 menu and their normal menu and everything I’ve had tends to be pretty good.
I enjoy their Beef Brisket with Rice and they happily provide me a bowl of their soup for free (when I ask for it). The beef brisket goes great with the rice and the chili oil. There are times when the beef brisket is a little tougher than usual, but 8 times out of 10, it’s really enjoyable.
Song Huong – Bun Bo Hue is great because it allows you to feed the family with plenty of affordable options and your wallet will be happier.
