Steak Ministry Bar & Grill – Glen Waverley – been meaning to visit to place and it is worth visiting if you want a quality steak

My friends and colleagues love a good steak. It’s meant that I have visited many of the restaurant chains known for their steaks like Squire’s Loft, Meat Wine & Co and Macelleria. Steak Ministry Bar & Grill is one of those places I had seen, but haven’t tried until only recently. My main hesitation was the price of the cuts, which start from AU$46 for a 300g porterhouse steak.

I decided to book the venue to catch up with some colleagues. I used their online booking service to reserve our table. It turned out to be a fantastic venue for the meet up because the ambience was quite nice, the service was prompt, and we could actually hear ourselves talk. It also helped that it was a sort of center point based on where each attendee lived.

In the end, I was thrilled and was pretty happy with my meal though I feel my experience with Macelleria, which is also in Glen Waverley, feel more worthwhile given the significant price difference between the two. Macelleria’s steaks start from $25.90 for a 220 g scotch fillet. That being said, you can tell that Steak Ministry Bar & Grill’s steak are of a higher quality. Steak connoisseurs will want to give Steak Ministry Bar & Grill a go.

Steak Ministry Bar & Grill’s menu has the steaks, but also some seafood, other meats and some vegetarian dishes. The menu seems to cater for just about anyone. But being all meat eaters, we all opted for the steaks. I went for the 300g porterhouse steak for $46, added some green peppercorn and brandy sauce for $5 and a side of fat “STEM” chips with truffle and aged parmesan for $12.

It is pretty common for steak restaurants to charge extra for the sauces and the side chips, which is a detractor for me but even Squire’s Loft, Meat Wine & Co and Macelleria follow this madness. So oh well…

The steak was cooked medium rare and was done pretty well. The basting and seasoning was just right. The sauce probably needed more peppercorns, but I think it would be fine for most people – but I prefer to be hit to death with pepper flavor. The chips were solid properly fat steak fries. I don’t know how people can justify having weak shoestring fries with steaks. Steaks require thick cut fries.

By night’s end, I was glad to have booked this venue and finally tried it. I am keen to try their other dishes. I was pleased to see that it attracted a few people even on what I would expect to be a quieter night.

If you are game, you can try their Tomahawk steak. It’s a real monster of a steak.
