Yoon’s Grill is located along Springvale Road where Yip’s Kitchen used to be. On a Saturday night, it was a packed house full of people enjoying all kinds of interesting Korean dishes, including bibimbap, soups and grilled meats. Although the venue doesn’t do Korean barbecue, it offers a more affordable, convenient bunch of options for people looking for a easy to enjoy, tasty meal. (I looked at the menu and thought, this is great – I don’t have to cook nor pay a minimum of $50 for a night out.)
Highlights | Yoon’s Grill offers a range of Korean dishes, from bibimbap, soups, and grilled meats. I enjoyed the sides, especially the braised quail eggs and squid salad. |
Cost | $30 for Softbap with Beef Steak (comes with purple rice in the steampot and four side dishes plus Soybean Soup) $18 for Hangover Soup (with Stewed Beef and Tripe) (comes with rice and four side dishes) |
Location | 2/310 Springvale Road, Springvale VIC 3171 |
The ordering process involves scanning the QR code and ordering from the app. You don’t pay on the app, you pay at the counter.
For most options, you choose your main dish which could be a softbap (rice at the base with your choice of topping), grill meat on a hot plate, or soup, then you get either Soybean Soup or Salad plus a set of four side dishes consisting of kimchi, braised onions, squid salad, and braised quail eggs. The best thing is being able to order more sides if you finish them, and the quail eggs side were my favourite. (The quail eggs were simple and hit the right spot. Plus, it very uncommon to see quail eggs as a side dish.)
We opted for their Beef Steak Softbap for $30 and their Hangover Soup for $18. The Beef Steak Softbap came in a hot aluminum pot with rice at the bottom, then topped with beef and other condiments.
The Hangover Soup set came quickly, with a really nice soup and some stingy beef with tripe it in. The soup had a kick of spice and came nice and hot with a bowl of rice and the four side dishes.
However it took awhile for the Beef Steak Softbap set to arrive. The beef and rice was really nice, but while the Soybean Soup had a nice flavour, it was slightly cooler than we were expecting. I wouldn’t order this set for the Soybean Soup.
Overall it is a nice restaurant offering delicious meals at a reasonable price for Springvale. It’s good to see another Korean restaurant join the pantheon of Korean restaurants in Springvale.
