Car Batteries from RACV Assist only have a two year warranty and cost more
Car Batteries from RACV Assist are more expensive and less capable than if you get your battery replaced by a trusted mechanic. What makes it worse is that you have to also pay for the annual Roadside Assist membership of around $140. All up, I paid for the $140 membership and $257 for the RACV battery itself.
RACV can be a convenience option. It’s nice that they have a vast network of on-the-road mechanics ready to provide assistance on the go. There are definitely a need for them and the people I have met, were genuinely very good. However, there is a downside to using RACV – the price is higher and product is inferior.

If you want to know, I went to D.C. Auto Electrics in Doveton. I called them ahead of my visit, got there one morning, took barely 10 minutes, and had a new battery installed. It was easy and already the car started up well. On the plus side, it just set me back $245 and I got a battery with a 42 month warranty.
