As you step inside, you’re transported into a world adorned with faux deer head trophies and barrels, creating an authentic woodhouse ambiance that sets the stage for a memorable dining experience.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the steaks, masterfully prepared with their basting. These succulent cuts, ranging from the humble 200g rump to the grand 1.1kg tomahawk, are each elevated with the restaurant’s signature basting. You can pair them with a choice of either chips or salad, or pay extra for classic sides like Truffle Potatoes, Charred Corn, or Brussel Sprouts. And don’t forget to explore their array of mouthwatering sauces, including mushroom, peppercorn, and peri peri, each adding a layer of flavour to your steak journey.
But Hunter & Barrel is more than just a steakhouse. The menu offers a diverse range of options, from Flame Grilled Chicken and Snapper to Lamp Chops, ensuring there’s something for every palate. The attention to detail extends to their exceptional pork and beef ribs, which can be ordered in half or full serves, which comes with either chips or salad. The basting on the pork and beef ribs are alone enough with a excellent flavour.
During our visit, we savoured the New Yorker steak paired with peppercorn sauce The pork ribs, while delicious on their own, reached new heights when coupled with the garlic butter sauce. However, it’s the skewered meats that truly stole the spotlight, making them a must-try.
Hunter & Barrel caters to families as well, offering a selection of kids’ meals, all priced at $15 and served with chips and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It’s a thoughtful touch that ensures a family-friendly dining experience.

The interiors are a harmonious blend of comfort and elegance, providing a welcoming family-style setting that extends to a well-heated upstairs area. Even on a Monday night, the restaurant was bustling, emphasising the need to make a reservation in advance to secure your spot in this popular abode.
