La Bohemia Cafe is located near Market Europa along the Princes Highway. The cafe offers a tantilising array of Chilean dishes from empanadas, chorizo, and churrasco. There is plenty of parking, since it’s a neighbourhood shopping precinct.
Highlights | La Bohemia Cafe along Princes Highways in Noble Park was a lively venue when I visited when they had the soccer game between Chile and Argentina. No surprise which team the people were there to support. The range of empanadas and other Chilean dishes was good, and we were really happy with the serving size for their Chorillana which we shared between two people. |
Cost | From $6.50 for a Cheese Empanada to $8 for Pino Beef Empanada or Chorizo and Cheese $40 for Poor Man’s Steak (300g scotch fillet with chips, onions and fried eggs) |
Location | 497 Princes Highway, Noble Park VIC 3174 |
The café was really lively during our visit on a Wednesday afternoon with a café packed with folks watching a soccer match between Chile and Argentina on two large screens in the café. It was a fascinating display of people gathering to enjoy their shared love of soccer. I was told by the owner that when the game isn’t on, they usually put on some nice ambient Chilean tracks.
Upon walking in, we found the service was really nice and helpful with our pram, getting us water, and just being generally attentive to our needs.
We ordered their Chorillana for $30, two deep fried empanadas for $8 each, and a large latte. The Chorillana was a large portion which we felt needed to be shared between at least 2 and could probably up to 4 people. The chips were nice and crispy, while the topping of different types of meat, onions and sauce was a fine complement to the bed of chips.
The empanadas were really nice as well, coming with their own salsa sauce. I thought the prawn and cheese was the better of the two, but the beef pino empanadas was really good.
They did forget about my coffee order, but I managed to get it takeaway. I thought the coffee was a tad bitter for my liking, but over the course of finishing it – I found myself developing a subtle like for the taste. Due to my background I generally prefer more sweeter coffees, which is probably why Vietnamese coffees add condensed milk into theirs.
Overall it was a great experience to visit the café, enjoy their food, and be impressed with their service.
