Little Collins Street Kitchen – Melbourne – bar and a la carte Filipino flavours and techniques

The restaurant is nestled on the first floor of the Sheraton Hotel. The restaurant overlooks Little Collins Street with its windows all facing out in the small side street. You can catch a glimpse of the busy city if you decide to sit by the windowsill.

I found this restaurant by chance while exploring potential locations for a catch up with a former colleague. It seemed to provide an elegant dining room, where we could enjoy our meals while being able to have some meaningful conversations. In the end, the restaurant was perfect for that.

I thoroughly enjoyed the service and the food at the restaurant. It seems to be an ideal location for work functions and family gatherings.

Little Collins Street Kitchen’s menu

From their menu, we ordered their BBQ chicken and pork dish. Both came with a side of fries. The meats were cooked close to perfection. I enjoyed the chicken’s honey-like glaze, while the pork chop was well seasoned and cooked to tenderness. I had no issues at all with the fries which were crunchy on the outside and soft, fluffy on the inside. The menu manages to exceed in showcasing Filipino flavours and techniques in an interesting way.

The meals on the menu are more expensive at around $40 to $45 for mains. Although this isn’t considered to be fine dining, it comes rather close.

The restaurant can be hard to find, but all you need to do is head into the hotel and up the stairs. There are signs on the stairs that have the restaurant’s name. The impression you get when you visit a restaurant like this is that it is fancy and one for important people.

On the day we visited, it had some visitors but was generally pretty quiet. Most of the visitors were generally older business people having after work chats and meetings.
