Malaysia Taste – Clayton – $12.80 lunch specials

Malaysia Taste in Clayton seems to be a rebranded Petaling Street. It’s almost no mistaking it when there are still signs showing various dishes with the Petaling Street logo in the bottom corner. It’s strange that this has rebranded, yet Petaling Street still has its joint in Glen Waverley. Nevertheless this restaurant offers incredible value dishes at $12.80 during the busy lunch sessions.

Malaysia Taste is located on the busy Clayton Road next to the Tab pokies outlet. It’s a cramp restaurant designed with fast paced service.

We visited for a Friday lunch. The whole restaurant was packed full with people during the lunch period with lots of dine-ins and takeaways. This is a sure way to know that this restaurant must be pretty good. The restaurant is pretty tightly packed with not much space in between the tables. The restaurant was clearly designed for quick service and short stay diners.

We sat down for their Lunch Special for $12.80. This special consists of a choice of various dishes from Prawn or Chicken Laksa, Pork Offal Noodle Soup or Dry Noodles (with soup), Chicken or Prawn Congee, and Wonton Soup Noodle Soup. There are even some options that are part of the specials but not on the menu if you can spot them on the front window or on one of the various posters in the restaurant.

We ordered from their Lunch Specials Menu, their Chicken Laksa and Pork Offal Dry Noodles (with soup). Both dishes were really nice, and were very affordable. The Chicken Laksa was great with both chicken pieces, fish cakes and fish balls. The Pork Offal Dry Noodles came with rice noodles with sweet soy, garlic sauce and deep fried pork crouton plus a bowl of tasty soup with pork offal.

Overall, it was a great value meal. It definitely tasted better than some places that charge more and provide inferior quality.
