In the heart of Haymarket, Matcha-Ya is a welcoming café where visitors can enjoy the ambiance of a dessert focused venue with its tasty aromas and visually pleasing matcha delights. My recent visit to Matcha-Ya left me impressed, as I savoured their exciting offerings amidst the vibrant atmosphere.
From the moment I stepped inside Matcha-Ya, I was captivated by its inviting interior, reminiscent of a cosy café that invites guests to unwind and indulge in delectable treats.

The menu at Matcha-Ya boasts an enticing selection of drinks and desserts, all infused with the distinctive flavour of matcha. From matcha ice-cream to matcha-flavoured chips and Japanese favourite kakigori, shaved ice desserts, there’s something to tantalise every taste bud.
During my visit. I ordered their Matcha Kakigori, priced at $8.5, which was delightful cup overflowing with interesting toppings. From soft mochi to sweet red bean, jelly, honeycomb, and decadent matcha ice-cream, each spoonful offered something different to the palate. The generous portion size made it exceptional value for money.
Matcha-Ya, conveniently located in Darling Square, emerges as a perfect late-night destination for those seeking an after-dinner treat. The café buzzes with activity on Friday and Saturday nights, attracting a diverse crowd eager to savour its irresistible offerings. And sometimes it can be hard to secure a table.
In addition to its delectable desserts, Matcha-Ya also offers an array of dessert cakes elegantly displayed, tempting visitors with their visually alluring presentation. For those on the go, takeaway Japanese drinks provide a convenient option to satisfy cravings on the move from their matcha latte to soft drink cocktails.
Matcha-Ya is a good destination for an after-dinner treat. The service can be relatively fast. Although the tables and space is very cosy, it’s perfectly fine for that quick treat and then dash.
