UGO Burrata Bar at South Melbourne Market offers amazing pork rolls with mozzerella. It’s an absolute must-try. South Melbourne Market is packed with fantastic food experiences from oysters, borek, gozleme, paella, croissants, donuts, dumplings, dim sims, and so much more. It is a very cosmopolitan market with so many excellent options.

You can get to South Melbourne Market easily by tram or you can make a 20 minute walk down from Southern Cross Station, When you visit on weekends, you can expect it to be brimming with visitors local and from afar – it has always been a popular destination.
This stall has only been a recent introduction to the market, replacing a fresh pasta stall beforehand (which has merely moved locations down the hall). On the day of my visit, I noticed the stall was surrounded with people, curious or in the process of having their epiphany.
The menu was relatively small, but that’s all that’s needed. I placed my order and my order came out relatively quickly
Also on the menu is that you can order each component separately, for example the roast pork can be purchased for $45 per kilo. It’s a tad expensive, but at least it may be a more economical option if you want to make the sandwiches at home.
The bread was nicely toasted, the pork and the sauce were the star, the mozzarella added texture but was cold. The sandwich itself consists of toasted focaccia, salsa verde, burrata (mozzarella) and their roast pork. It was a bit weird to have room temperature mozzarella with hot pork and warm bread, but overall I found the whole sandwich a unique, satisfying experience. Think toasted, but still fluffy bread, with thick pork and crackling, a delicious sauce, and a great portion of cheese.
Although the cost of the bread roll is $22, I wouldn’t hesitate to revisit the place to order it again. I can see this being a very popular mainstay at the market.
