Fossette Cafe – Alphington – burgers and close to the train station
Fossette Café is just south of Alphington Station on Heidelberg Road. I was just visiting a friend for lunch during my experience at this café. It’s nicely nestled on the corner of the road with the option of both indoor and outdoor dining.
| Highlights | Just a simple place for burgers and chips plus coffee and soft drinks along Heidelberg Road |
| Cost | approx $50 for two burgers, large chips to share and two drinks |
| Location | 737 Heidelberg Road, Alphington VIC 3078 |

What I love about the inner city suburbs are the many cafes to visit, all with their own uniqueness. It could be the look-and-feel or the quality of the food. A place that happens to tick both boxes would be golden.
What I like about Fossette Cafe is simply how close it is to Alphington Station. It is literally 4 minutes walk from the station! I also liked the humble ambiance and customer service.
We opted for the burgers and shared a bowl of large chips. The hosts were also happy to oblige us with mayonnaise in a nice dipping tub and a whole bottle of tomato sauce… The tomato sauce could have been in its own nice dipping tub, but they gave us the bottle. Needless to say, it felt strange using the bottle.

I had the fried chicken burger and it was satisfying. I was impressed with the crumbed coating and the tenderness of the chicken meat. I loved that there were melted cheese and some nice to go with the meat and bun. The chips were also well cooked and crispy. All in all, it was a satisfying lunch.
