Hi-Lai Harbour Hi-Lai Branch – Kaohsiung – A$50 buffet with drinks, sushi and seafood

Located high above Kaohsiung on the 43rd floor of the luxurious Grand Hi-Lai Hotel, Hi-Lai Harbour Buffet delivers an extravagant dining experience that feels every bit as indulgent as its surroundings. The hotel itself is a stunning display of opulence, with gilded trim, polished wood tones, and a five-star ambiance that sets the stage for what’s to come.

We secured a dinner reservation via Klook for around A$50 per person, which felt like an absolute steal given the extensive variety and quality on offer. The dinner session runs for two hours (5:30 PM to 7:30 PM), and everything was smooth and well-organised from check-in to seating. We were politely asked to stow our stroller before being guided to our table, and then it was game on.

The sheer variety of food was overwhelming in the best possible way. There were multiple stations offering everything from freshly prepared sushi and sashimi to a decadent roast meat corner featuring Roast Duck and Honey Soy Chicken. There were cook-to-order noodle dishes, an array of soups, and a seafood bar stocked with raw prawns, steamed oysters, clams, mussels, crabs, and calamari — all fresh and constantly replenished.

The salad bar was well-stocked, and hot dishes in the bain-marie ranged from classic Chinese stir-fries to international favourites. And just when you thought you couldn’t eat another bite, the dessert section seduced with its wide range of cakes, crème brûlée, soufflé pancakes, Portuguese tarts, and scoops of ice cream in several flavours.

Drinks were also a major highlight. There was a station dedicated to milk tea, alongside a fridge of soft drinks, pre-mixed mocktails, beer, red and white wines, and even cocktails. You could also help yourself to freshly brewed coffee and a selection of teas.

Overall, Hi-Lai Harbour Buffet was a highlight of our Kaohsiung visit. The variety, quality, and overall value were unbeatable, especially when compared to similar hotel buffets in other cities. If you’re in Kaohsiung and love a great buffet experience, this place should absolutely be on your list.
