Novotel Sydney Central – Haymarket – one of the top business and holiday hotels in Sydney

Novotel Sydney Central offers a convenient and family-friendly stay in the heart of Sydney, making it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travelers. Situated on Thomas Street, this hotel is strategically located near Chinatown, providing easy access to various attractions and popular dining destinations.

One of the standout features of the hotel is its proximity to key landmarks such as Haymarket (Chinatown) and Central Station, both within a 10-minute walk. This makes it an excellent base for exploring Sydney’s main attractions, and the abundance of nearby restaurants and markets, such as Paddy’s Market, adds to the overall convenience.

Families will appreciate the thoughtful amenities provided by the hotel. The presence of a pool and gym caters to those looking to stay active, while the kids’ play area in the lobby ensures that younger guests are entertained. The large, open reception area with a furnished kids’ space sets a welcoming tone, though wheelchair access is limited to specific glass doors leading to both the hotel and the adjacent car park.

The hotel boasts three elevators, minimising wait times and ensuring efficient access to different floors. The King Room, while lacking in special frills, provides a comfortable stay with a double bed, a large television featuring standard Australian channels, a sofa, and a bathtub and shower unit. It’s a spacious option, suitable for families seeking a comfortable retreat. (It’s really nice to have a bathtub in a hotel room. Having a good soak at the end of the day is worth it.)

However, it’s worth noting that the hotel does not provide toiletries in the hotel rooms as a default. On the positive side, guests can enjoy complimentary Dilmah tea and Nestle hot chocolate satchels. The inclusion of hotel Wi-Fi is a plus, catering to the connectivity needs of modern travelers.

There is the option of ordering room service and having food delivered via various delivery apps such as UberEats or MenuLog.

Although there were several power points in the room, most of the power points didn’t work. Also, I had issues connecting to their guest Wi-Fi during my entire three night stay. And, there weren’t any nice views outside my high level floor windows. Despite these hiccups, it was still a decent experience.

Novotel Sydney Central offers a decent and reliable accommodation option in the heart of Sydney. While it may not boast extravagant features, its convenient location, family-friendly amenities, and comfortable rooms make it a practical choice for those seeking a hassle-free stay in this vibrant city.
