Peninsula Hot Springs – Fingal – tourist and locals reprieve from the city

Peninsula Hot Springs is about 100 kilometres from Melbourne CBD. It will definitely require a car to haul you and your partner or your whole party to the venue. Peninsula Hot Springs can be a day even where you enjoy the hot water, saunas, cold options and more, or enjoy the massage therapy and sessions, or where you enjoy a glamping experience. It’s a well organised and exciting place to visit for anyone wanting to do something fun and different.

Getting to Peninsula Hot Springs can be an arduous journey on the road, so remember to bring good company and a decent Spotify setlist. It’s a long journey no matter which part of Melbourne you are based. Fortunately there are some freeways and highways that stretch the length of the journey, making it relatively easy to navigate.

On arrival, you can expect that the car park to have already a bunch of parked cars. There shouldn’t be too much of an issue if you drive further, but it’ll mean you will be further from the entrance and it can be quite the walk up the gravel.

Peninsula Hot Springs does scream elegant and luxury. There is a lot to love about how they have adorned the whole venue, from its entrance to the whole centre.

It is a smart idea to reserve your spot well arrival. I don’t think there is the option to purchase entry as a walk-in. It’s also important to pre-purchase your locker access. For two people or even three people, you could get away with purchasing one locker since the lockers can fit two Coles or Woolies reusable cooling bags. You can practically use any of the lockers available with the wrist watch.

Once you undress into your togs you can enjoy the centre. While you wait for your group, you can dip your toes in a hot pool to commence the process of acclimating your body to the hot water.

There are different areas with different scenery, vistas and water temperatures. The amphitheater area has a lot of lovely pools overlooking the stage where calm, pleasant music is played. There are even caves, needling showers, and stone walks to experience. Plus there is the ice caves, Turkish baths, and saunas. During the peak periods and also around sunset, a lot of people try to reach the hot spring at the summit for that picture-moment. (And yes, a lot of people carry their phones with them.)

This is where it’s a timely reminder that you need to bring flip flops that tolerate being drenched in water and either a towel or robe. I recommend a robe given it can get pretty cold when you come straight out of the water. And they make it relatively easy to hang your robe/towels and place your shoes somewhere before each time you jump/enter into the water.

If you need some quiet time, there are plenty of springs that are less occupied.

There is also a café where you can give yourself a break.

The changing rooms are relatively small with both open and closed door showers. For the mens, there are only three cubicle with a soap dispenser otherwise you are left to use the open area.

After you have completed your experience, you can use one of the many coin operated massage chairs and laze around in one of the sofas in the relaxation lounge.
