When youโre on the hunt for Melbourneโs best burger, itโs hard to ignore a place that proudly proclaims itself as serving the โbest burgers in town.โ Thatโs exactly why I ventured over to Simpsons Burgers, drawn in by their confident claim and prime city location.

Location & Vibe
Nestled at the corner of Flinders Lane and Market Street, Simpsons Burgers boasts a convenient spot for city dwellers and workers alike. The small storefront is easy to spot, thanks to its signature bright yellow color schemeโa subtle nod to the name, though, curiously, thereโs no real connection to the beloved animated TV show โThe Simpsonsโ beyond that hue.

Dining Experience
I opted to dine in, keen to get the full experience. I ordered the Aussie Burger ($18.90) and added a small combo with crispy fries and a can of drink for an extra $8. The Aussie Burger is a celebration of all things Aussie: a well-cooked beef patty, melted cheese, beetroot, a perfectly fried egg, a slice of pineapple, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and their house-made special sauceโall stacked between a lightly toasted bun.
One highlight of my visit was the open kitchen layout. It was refreshing to see the burger being made right in front of me. I watched as the patty was cooked twiceโsomething that intrigued meโand the staff carefully assembled the layers, paying attention to detail.
Taste & Quality
When it came time to dig in, the burger hit the spot. It was tasty, filling, and hit all the right notes of a classic Aussie burger. The fillings balanced each other nicelyโthe sweetness of the pineapple, the richness of the bacon and egg, the slight tang from the beetroot, and the creamy special sauce. The fries, too, were a pleasant surprise: crispy, golden, and served in just the right portion.
Affordability & Options
One thing I appreciated was the menuโs accessibility. While the Aussie Burger was on the pricier side at nearly $19, the basic Simpsons Burger is priced at a more affordable $14.50โperfect for those looking to grab a quick, budget-friendly bite without sacrificing quality.

Atmosphere & Service
Simpsons Burgers keeps it simple: a casual, no-fuss burger joint where the focus is on the food rather than fancy dรฉcor or theming. The service was efficient and friendlyโexactly what youโd hope for in a burger shop.
Final Thoughts
While Simpsons Burgers may not have the most groundbreaking or adventurous burger menu in Melbourne, it delivers a solid, satisfying experience for burger lovers. Watching the patty being cooked right in front of you adds a nice touch, and the Aussie Burger is a classic worth trying at least once.
If youโre after a straightforward, reliable burger fix in the heart of the city, Simpsons Burgers is definitely worth a stop.
