Street Taste is located along Elizabeth Street in Melbourne’s central business district. There is another location in Preston. The restaurant offers North American cuisine, with a heavier focus on Mexican cuisines with its tacos, churros, nachos, and charred corn.
Highlights | The tacos were delicious and decent sized for that quick lunch option without too many carbs. |
Cost | $20 to $40 for two people $19 for their Lunch Combo with two tacos and a can of soft drink |

Street Taste opened in the central business district in 2024. It was a welcome addition so close to the Myer Emporium and so many other attractions in the centre of the city.
Street Taste presents itself as a hip looking, trendy bar with a relaxed atmosphere. It’s easy to simply walk in, grab a table, then order when a server turns up.
Although the servers highly recommend the Birria Tacos which are tacos with slow cooked beef with adobo sauce and cheese and are plastered all over the front window, I opted for just the Crispy Fish Taco and Steak Taco as part of their lunch special for $19. The lunch special also comes with a can of soft drink.
It didn’t take long for the wooden board with my two tacos to appear.
I have to admit that I was puzzled about how I should hold it, but found the pinching and folding into a wrap worked despite some of the sauce dripping onto the board.
Both tacos were well presented with different toppings and sauces plus a corn chip. I started with the Crispy Fish Taco and found the battered fish and peach salsa to be a tasty combo, whereas the Steak Taco was mind boggling better thanks to the kale and salsa verde and excellent, tender steak strips.
At the end of my lunch session, I paid $19 plus the card surcharge. I thought the lunch special was good and it was a tasty experience.
