Sushi Hotaru – Melbourne – busy sushi train that’s hard to get a seat

Nestled within Melbourne’s bustling Midcity Arcade, on the first floor overlooking the vibrant streets below, lies Sushi Hotaru—an iconic destination for sushi enthusiasts seeking affordable and delectable Japanese cuisine.

Midcity Arcade, conveniently situated along Bourke Street and Little Bourke Street, serves as the perfect backdrop for Sushi Hotaru’s culinary delights. Despite its unassuming location, the restaurant garners a loyal following, evident from the eager diners who eagerly await its 5:00 pm dinner service, forming a queue that speaks volumes about its popularity.

On the day of my visit, securing a table for four proved to be a challenge, with the limited seating options prompting us to settle for spots at the counter. While the restaurant boasts limited tables for larger groups, the cozy ambiance and intimate booths add to its charm, creating an inviting atmosphere for diners of all kinds.

Perusing the digital menu, adorned with tempting offerings, I found most of the sushi plates priced at a reasonable $4.20—a testament to Sushi Hotaru’s commitment to affordability without compromising on quality.

What truly sets Sushi Hotaru apart is its team of Japanese chefs, whose expertise and dedication shine through in every dish. Their meticulous attention to detail ensures that each plate is a work of art, crafted with precision and passion.
