Little Ramen Bar – Melbourne – simple, Japanese noodle soup in a laneway

Little Ramen Bar is housed within Little Collins Street on the other side of the Galleria and close to Equitable Place. It’s a lunchtime gem with options to enjoy ramen from the counter watching bowls of ramen being prepared and served. The alternative is to order and enjoy your ramen from the comfort of one of the many tables.

The location of Little Ramen Bar is pretty central, not far off from the main thoroughfare around Bourke Street’s Myer and David Jones’ flagstaff stores. I find this part of Little Collins Street excited with Momo Dumplings, Industry Beans, Oriental Tea House, Tomo’s, and Critical Hit. There is so much to love about this section of this street.

Although walk-ins are welcome for smaller groups, for bigger groups its a good idea to make a reservation in advance at Little Ramen Bar. I have managed to fit nine people in a work lunch catch-up. Ordering is a straight forward process with the QR code on the table.

Shortly after ordering, the staff at Little Ramen Bar served us water. And the food didn’t take too long to prepare after ordering too. I feel you could probably be in and out of an establishment like this within 30 minutes if you wanted a very quick lunch.

I opted for their Classic Tonkotsu Ramen for $16.90. It’s not a bad price for a lunch dish, and it comes with the bare basics with a piece of chashu, bamboo, fungi and spring onions in a rich pork bone broth soup. It was a okay bowl, nothing too exciting but nothing too bad about it.

One of my colleagues ordered their Godzilla-sized ramen bowl, which definitely looked humongous in comparison to my Classic Tonkotsu Ramen.
