The latest store for Black Star Pastry has opened in Melbourne’s CBD in Driver Lane in April 2023, just on the outside of Melbourne Emporium. This store does the famous Strawberry Watermelon cakes, as well as drinks and savoury treats like pies.

It’s a small store, so there is very little space to enjoy a dine-in experience. Most people visit to pick-up takeaway cake, whether the small cakes or the bigger celebration cakes.
Black Star Pastry has a great array of cakes
The best cake is their Strawberry Watermelon Cake for $11, but their other cakes are great too.
I visited came across Black Star Pastry in Sydney when it was housed within the book store Kinokuniya. I’ve also visited their outlets in St Kilda and Chadstone and tried most of their cakes. Aside from their Strawberry Watermelon Cake, I’d recommend their Lemon Pistachio Cake when it is available.
Black Star Pastry is a must try if you are a dessert connoisseur. They offer some of the best cakes in town. though, I still prefer places like Bibelot in South Melbourne.
