Breathtaking Views from the Skydeck
The adventure began on the 88th floor at the Eureka Skydeck, which boasts some of the best 360-degree views of Melbourne. From the city skyline to Port Phillip Bay, you can see sights that are simply unparalleled. The efficient elevator ride to the top is a quick precursor to the awe-inspiring vistas that await. For kids, the Skydeck experience is priced at $30, making it a great option for families.
The Skydeck’s added features, such as the Edge Experience and the viewing platform, are an incredible way to appreciate Melbourne’s sprawling urban and natural landscape. But the real gem lies one floor above – Eureka 89.

The Eureka 89 Dining Experience
Eureka 89 is as much about the views as it is about the food. The restaurant offers a luxurious yet approachable fine dining atmosphere, with sweeping views of Melbourne from every angle. Even the bathrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, ensuring the skyline is never out of sight.
The space also boasts its own bar, coffee station, and the ability to host private functions, making it an ideal location for events and special occasions. Despite its fine dining aspirations, the restaurant has a relaxed vibe that adds to its charm.

Impeccable Service and Quality Cuisine
The service at Eureka 89 was flawless – attentive and professional without feeling overly formal. For the three-course lunch, diners have a choice of entrée, main, and dessert. I chose the scallops for the entrée, steak for the main course, and parfait for dessert. Each dish was beautifully presented and expertly cooked.
The scallops were tender and paired with complementary flavours, the steak was perfectly cooked and satisfying, and the parfait offered a smooth, sweet conclusion to the meal. While the food was undeniably high quality, it’s worth noting that the portions were on the smaller side, and much of the value of the experience lies in the unparalleled surroundings.

VR Experience: A Fun Addition
The VR experience on the ground floor is a fun and interactive way to explore Melbourne. In just 15 minutes, you’re transported to iconic Melbourne scenes, from the excitement of Luna Park’s rollercoasters to the thrill of the Melbourne Cup, and even a serene drive along the Great Ocean Road. While brief, it adds a unique element to the overall package.

Is It Worth It?
Dining at Eureka 89 is undeniably expensive, but the combination of the breathtaking views, impeccable service, and excellent food make it an experience worth indulging in – at least once. The stunning vistas alone are worth the price, and when paired with a high-quality dining experience, it becomes a memorable way to celebrate a special occasion or simply treat yourself.
Whether you’re a local looking to rediscover Melbourne or a tourist seeking the best views in the city, Eureka 89 offers a dining experience that feels truly above and beyond.
