Hopetoun Tea Rooms est. 1892 – Melbourne – the name continues
Although there are still the Tea Room at the Royal Arcade, Hopetoun Tea Rooms is a continuation of the original establishment. This café has set up shop at the historic Kozminsky Building. With all the construction happening, it can be difficult to find the entrance. You have to walk down the alley along the side of the café to enter into the basement. Inside and throughout, Hopetoun Tea Rooms is a beautifully gilded locale with a lovely royal green and gold aesthetic.

Hopetoun Tea Rooms can be a difficult find in the city, but once you find this hidden gem you are in for a treat. Upon walking down the stairs, you are able to sample their tea and stare at their beautifully presented cakes and treats. They display everything in a well decorated glass cabinet.
There are a bunch of savoury and sweet options, including their Sausage Roll, Breakfast Brioche, Quiches, Pies and Sandwiches to Swiss Rolls, Tarts, Cheesecakes, Pavlova, and Scones.

I ordered their Breakfast Brioche with Egg and Halloumi for $15 and had it toasted. It was such a delicious burger with the thick cut of cheese and well fried egg on top of spinach and other greens. The burger was nicely toasted. It went well with their hot chocolate which was warm, fluffy on top, and chocolate-ty.
The tea room has a glass divider between the guests and the bakes station. Throughout the experience, we got to see them make so many delicious treats.
