One Noodle Friendship – Preston – the best hand pulled noodles and dumplings in the area

Nestled in a narrow and inconspicuous arcade, the Preston Chambers Arcade, just a stone’s throw away from Preston Market and Preston Train Station, lies One Noodle Friendship—a humble long established eatery with a reputation for its hand pulled noodles and dumplings. Stepping into the restaurant on a bustling Friday afternoon, I was greeted by the sight of the male owner diligently managing both the serving and cooking of food. Despite the modest surroundings and lack of additional staff, there was a steady stream of regular patrons, a testament to the restaurant’s enduring popularity.

My journey with One Noodle Friendship began over a decade ago, and despite the passage of time, the restaurant still exudes its unique charm. While the décor may appear a tad more worn than it did ten years ago, it is the food that remains the main draw for its loyal customers and customers with fond memories like myself. As I settled into my seat, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia, recalling fond memories of previous visits to this hidden gem.

HighlightsOne of the best restaurants in Preston. It is not an obvious restaurant to visit, but for more than a decade it has been serving delicious hand pulled noodles and dumplings. I know many locals who attest to the quality of the food since I’ve known about it in 2014. It’s dishes are uniquely fresh tasting for an Asian restaurant. A must visit if you are visiting the area.

Upon the owner’s recommendation, I opted for the Stewed Beef Brisket Noodle Soup priced at $15.90 and the Steamed Pork and Prawn Dumplings priced at $14.50. True to its reputation, One Noodle Friendship delivered on both fronts. The hand-pulled noodles in the soup boasted a perfect texture, complemented by a delicately seasoned broth that left a refreshing taste on the palate. Meanwhile, the dumplings were a true delight, with a tender, steamed skin enveloping a succulent filling bursting with flavour.

Reflecting on past experiences, I recalled that One Noodle Friendship excelled in its dumpling offerings, particularly the Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings and Vegetarian Dumplings, each a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to quality and authenticity. Additionally, their hand-pulled noodles have always been a standout feature, showcasing the skill and expertise of the kitchen staff. (Even though the noodles look inconsistent, they are very tasty and even a kind of charm I’ve not seen offered elsewhere.)
