San Telmo trades itself as a fine dining restaurant with an “Argentinian menu focused on chargrills, in an eclectic space with high ceilings and hung cow hides”. The venue is immaculate and elegant with everything you would expect from a fine dining establishment.

The restaurant in on the east side of Melbourne’s central business district. It’s located within an alleyway with easy to see signs and an attractive entrance.
My colleagues ordered their $95 a head banquet which came with all the following:
- Empanada – Beef, olive and egg
- Ceviche – Market white fish, coconut tiger’s milk, sweet potato, chilli & coriander
- Chorizo – Spiced pork and paprika sausage
- Morcilla – Spiced black sausage
- Solomillo – O’Connors premium striploin
- Papas – Dobson’s russet potatoes topped with salsa provenzal
- Ensalada – Seasonal leaves, herbs, shallot and merlot vinaigrette
- Alfajor – Argentine cookie filled with dulce de leche
South American cuisine at its finest
I loved the empanadas and the steak striploin. The steak was super tender and served in a delicious caramelised sauce.
